Former Al Ahly Star Calls for Exclusion of El-Shenawy
Mustafa Abdo, the former Al Ahly star, confirmed that Mohamed El-Shenawy, the goalkeeper of Al Ahly, should be excluded from the team's matches and other players should be given opportunities.
El-Shenawy delivered an unconvincing performance in Al Ahly's match against Porto of Portugal in the third round of the group stage of the Club World Cup, which ended in a 4-4 draw.
Mustafa Abdo said via MBC Masr 2 channel: "Mohamed El-Shenawy has carried Al Ahly in many aspects, but he needs to sit out."
He added: "El-Shenawy needs to sit out for a while and let other players (get opportunities)."
Regarding Al Ahly's performance in the Club World Cup, he said: "Being in the World Cup is an honor for Egyptian football, and if Al Ahly is not in Egypt recently, you won't feel Egyptian football."
