The German coach Jurgen Klopp launched fiery statements against the Club World Cup in its new format, describing it as "the worst idea ever implemented in football."
Klopp said: "The Club World Cup is the worst idea ever implemented in football. People who have never experienced daily work are the ones proposing these ideas."
He added: "Last summer there was the Copa and the Euros, this summer the Club World Cup, and next summer the World Cup!! This is ridiculous."
He concluded: "I fear we will witness unprecedented injuries among players next season, and if that doesn't happen next season, it will happen during the World Cup or immediately after."
