Officially: Leicester City Announces Termination of Van Nistelrooy's Contract

Leicester City Football Club announced today, Friday, that it has mutually agreed to terminate the contract of Dutch coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, less than a year after he took over the managerial role of the first team.

Leicester City stated in an official announcement: "The club has agreed with Ruud van Nistelrooy to terminate his contract as the head coach of the first team immediately," noting that the Dutch coach had taken up his position in November 2024.

The statement added: "Ruud led the team during a difficult period since his appointment and demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and a clear commitment to the club's goals, including integrating several young players from the club's academy into the first team."

For his part, Van Nistelrooy sent a farewell message, saying: "I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the players, coaching staff, Leicester City Academy, and all the staff I have worked with for their professionalism and dedication, as well as thanking the fans for their continued support, and I wish the club all the best in the future."
