Benfica President Clarifies Real Madrid Negotiations for Carreras
Wednesday 25-06-2025
Rui Costa, the president of Portuguese club Benfica, denied that his club has received any official offer from Real Madrid regarding the signing of young full-back Álvaro Carreras, despite circulating reports about the Spanish club's interest in acquiring him.

Costa stated in his remarks: "Real Madrid is preparing an offer for us, but nothing has arrived yet."

He added: "The time is not right now, and it won't be until the end of the Club World Cup and our participation in it. Until then, there is no need to talk about anything; Carreras is here with us."

For his part, Álvaro Carreras commented on the circulating news, saying after his team's match against Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup: "Right now, the most important thing is the Club World Cup; everything is going well."

Carreras is currently participating with Benfica in the tournament held in the United States, and the Portuguese team has successfully qualified for the Round of 16 of the competition.

The statements from the club president and the player confirm that any discussion about Carreras's future will not take place before the end of Benfica's journey in the Club World Cup.
