FIFA Opens Investigation Against Pachuca Player for Racism

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has officially opened an investigation into a potential incident of racial abuse that occurred during a match between Real Madrid and Pachuca in the second round of the group stage of the Club World Cup.

The match witnessed a heated altercation between Real Madrid player Antonio Rüdiger and Pachuca player Gustavo Cabral.

The Spanish newspaper "AS" reported that Rüdiger claimed Cabral directed racist remarks at him, saying: "You damn black man," while Cabral alleged in press statements that he told Rüdiger: "You damn coward."

The newspaper added that the referee temporarily halted the match and activated FIFA's anti-racism protocol, in a move indicating the seriousness of the situation and the commitment of the relevant parties to address these issues firmly.

The match ended with Real Madrid winning 3-1.
