The British newspaper "Daily Telegraph" reported that Atletico Madrid has entered the race to sign Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, the Aston Villa goalkeeper, during the summer transfer window.

The Spanish club is preparing to compete with several Saudi clubs that have shown interest in signing Martinez amid indications that he is close to leaving Aston Villa, despite being under contract until the summer of 2029.

The 32-year-old Argentine goalkeeper has a market value estimated at around 20 million euros, according to the player evaluation site "Transfermarkt".

Martinez participated in 53 matches with Aston Villa during the last season, across all domestic and continental competitions, during which he delivered impressive performances that enhanced the interest of top clubs in his services.
