Premier League Fines Manchester City
Friday 20-06-2025
The Premier League has imposed a fine on Manchester City exceeding 1.2 million euros due to repeated violations of the rules regarding the start and resumption of matches during the past season.

The league clarified in an official statement that Manchester City violated the regulations requiring clubs to start both halves on time on nine different occasions this season, with the penalties starting at 49,000 euros for the first violation and gradually increasing to over 220,000 euros in some cases.

Among the most notable recorded violations was the delay in resuming the Manchester derby match against Manchester United last December, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for City. The club had faced similar penalties in the previous season, amounting to 2.4 million euros due to 22 similar infractions.

This fine comes at a time when Manchester City is facing other legal challenges related to 130 charges of violating financial fair play rules, despite the team's success in finishing the season in third place and qualifying for the Champions League.
