According to ESPN, Italian club Napoli has begun its efforts to sign Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez from Liverpool during the summer transfer window, at the direct request of coach Antonio Conte, who sees him as the ideal option to enhance the team's attacking line.

Reports indicate that Liverpool is demanding over 50 million euros to part with Nunez, amid the player's openness to experiencing a new challenge in Serie A after two tumultuous seasons with the Reds.

Nunez is considered outside the plans of Dutch coach Arne Slot, who does not oppose the departure of the 25-year-old striker, especially after his declining scoring rate last season and his repeated sitting on the bench.

Nunez participated in 47 matches with Liverpool during the past season, scoring 7 goals and providing 7 assists. He joined the English club in the summer of 2022 from Benfica in a deal worth 75 million euros.
