The Competitions Committee of the Iraqi Football Association announced the official date for the start of the new season of the Iraqi Stars League, which will kick off on Saturday, September 13, 2025, with the competitions concluding on June 1, 2026.

The date was set with consideration for the national team's commitments, which face important challenges in the upcoming period, most notably the Asian playoff for qualification to the World Cup finals. This timing will give clubs the opportunity for early preparation, as well as allowing local players to participate in competitive matches to enhance their readiness before official international matches.

The committee confirmed that the season schedule will be announced later, ensuring appropriate rest days and better organization of matches to reduce postponements that affected the previous season. They also pledged to continue implementing the licensing system for clubs and to enhance technical and organizational controls to raise the quality of the league and improve the fan experience.

This step comes amid the federation's desire to achieve an ideal start for the upcoming season and to strengthen the league's position as a strong local competition that meets continental aspirations, especially with the increasing media and competitive interest in Iraqi football in recent years.
