The Spanish newspaper "AS" revealed that Real Madrid has decided to extend the contract of its Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois until the summer of 2028, allowing the veteran goalkeeper to continue his journey with the royal team until he reaches the age of 38.

According to the report, the club is expected to officially announce the contract renewal after the team's participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, currently taking place in the United States until July 13.

Real Madrid's management believes that Courtois is still performing at a high level, despite his advancing age, which prompted them to renew their trust in him as the first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming phase.

The newspaper pointed out that Courtois' continued brilliance was one of the main reasons for the decision to look away from signing the young Spanish goalkeeper, Juan Garcia, who was on the club's radar before officially moving to Barcelona.
