The Italian Simone Inzaghi, coach of Al-Hilal, begins his journey with the blue team with a fiery match against Real Madrid, in the opening of Al-Hilal's campaign in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, marking his 13th match against a La Liga opponent.

Inzaghi's first test against a Spanish team was in 2019 when he lost with Lazio to Sevilla both home and away in the Europa League, in a match that featured Serbian Sergej Milinković-Savić, the current Al-Hilal player.

In his first season with Inter Milan, Inzaghi lost twice to Real Madrid in the 2021-2022 UEFA Champions League, and these results placed Inter second in the group, leading to a tough encounter against Liverpool.

Inzaghi returned in the 2022-2023 season to take revenge, defeating Barcelona 1-0 with a goal from Çalhanoğlu and then drawing 3-3 at Camp Nou, eliminating the Catalans and leading Inter to the final, which they narrowly lost to Manchester City.
