The English Football Association Accuses Referee David Coote
Tuesday 17-06-2025
The English Football Association has charged former referee David Coote following his abuse of former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp in a video where he used offensive and racist language.

The charges fall under rule "E3.1" which refers to inappropriate behavior or the use of insulting words, with the reference to Klopp's nationality considered an aggravated violation.

UEFA had previously decided to suspend Coote for 16 months starting February 2025, after he appeared in another video using a white powder before a Euro 2024 match, and the English FA dismissed him from the refereeing committee.

The English FA confirmed that no further action would be taken regarding allegations of misconduct in gambling, following a comprehensive investigation that concluded with Coote denying those claims.
