Antoine Griezmann, star of Atletico Madrid, has sent a strong message ahead of the anticipated clash against Paris Saint-Germain, as part of the Club World Cup competition, which is being held in its new format in the United States with the participation of 32 teams.

The tournament kicks off on Sunday morning with an opening match between Al Ahly of Egypt and Inter Miami of the USA, at 3 AM Cairo time.

Atletico Madrid is in a group that includes Paris Saint-Germain, Seattle Sounders of the USA, and Botafogo of Brazil.

Griezmann said in his statements: "What excites me the most about this tournament is that it is the first edition in history, and it is an honor for me and for Atletico Madrid to participate in it."

He added: "We are excited to face Paris Saint-Germain; they have been performing wonderfully lately, but we are confident in our ability to deliver a strong match and unsettle them."

He continued: "We saw that when we defeated them in the dying seconds at our home ground; I trust my team and hope we perform well."

Atletico Madrid had defeated Paris Saint-Germain with a last-minute goal in the 93rd minute during a Champions League match in the 2024/2025 season.
