Manchester City has announced that its Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol has won the Player of the Season award for the first team for the 2024/2025 season, following a public vote involving thousands of the club's supporters.

Gvardiol managed to secure nearly half of the votes in the final list, surpassing stars Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, thus claiming the award in his second season at the Etihad Stadium.

The 23-year-old defender had an exceptional season, participating in 53 matches across all competitions, making him the most featured player under Pep Guardiola, with his appearances varying between left-back and center-back positions, playing a crucial role in the team's backline.

This marks Gvardiol's first Player of the Season award with City, succeeding his former teammates Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, while De Bruyne remains the most decorated player historically with the award, having won it four times, tied with former defender Richard Dunne.
