Thursday 12-06-2025
The new star of Real Madrid, Trent Alexander-Arnold, appeared in a press conference in the press room at Santiago Bernabéu, on the sidelines of his presentation as a new player for the royal club, with a 6-year contract.

The player said: "It's an extremely exciting day for me. It's a day I've waited for a long time, I am happy, proud, and excited to get started. I have been waiting for this for a while, I want to be part of the history of this successful club from now on."

He added: "Whether you are a fan of this club or not, you have to respect its history and the titles it has achieved. Real Madrid has always been a support for me, and I have admired its players. I grew up watching this club win three consecutive Champions League titles, and two before that. This is a major reason for my desire to be part of this."

Regarding the Club World Cup: "I look forward to getting started. This club has a winning mentality. Now we are heading straight to the United States to participate in the Club World Cup, and I am excited to begin."

He continued: "What do you expect from your first year? I grew up as a Liverpool fan, and I saw their amazing achievements. I spoke a bit with Xabi Alonso, and I told him that he is a role model, and that working with him now is a dream come true. He has had a huge impact on my style of play. He did impossible things and influenced my way of working, my passion, and my high standards."

He emphasized: "Joining a club like this is both difficult and exciting at the same time, given the number of stars in it. They are players I admire, and it will be great to be part of the team and play with them instead of facing them."

Regarding his preferred position: "I just want to play, that’s what matters. This is the coach's decision, I have to train well and show my abilities. If I get the chance next week, I will do my best. Work starts tomorrow for me, and I am excited to begin."

Regarding writing the name 'Trent' on his jersey only: "It's simple. Whenever I traveled in Europe, I found the name complicated for people, so I thought the easiest thing is to simplify it for reading."

About Florentino Pérez: "He is a president who has won many Champions League titles, and that is amazing. I am very grateful for this opportunity. I believe we can win a lot together. I was happy with the Spanish I learned, which surprised many, but it was important for me to achieve that and start with confidence."

Regarding his memories of Real Madrid: "That was a long time ago, to be honest. I remember Beckham when he played here, and that was wonderful. I remember Cristiano. Real Madrid always strives for success."

He followed: "Do you expect to be appreciated here more than in England? I haven't thought about that, I do what the coaches I have played under ask me to do. Each one asks me for different things. I do what they ask in the best way possible. All I care about is helping my teammates win titles and giving my best."

Regarding executing set pieces: "I want to be a key player at every moment and in every match. You have to feel like part of the game, not separate from it."

Regarding his departure from Liverpool: "I spent a long time there, achieved everything I wanted, and fulfilled my dreams. I will always support them, but I feel that the time was right to leave. I feel ready to succeed elsewhere. This opportunity came to me, and that’s what I did."

He concluded: "I spoke with Hausen, we met during the break, I will meet most of my teammates tomorrow at training, and I will be able to talk to them. I am very excited about that. I still dream, it’s a dream. I look forward to getting to work and hope to start well."
