Saudi Arabia Without a Permanent Base in the Gold Cup
Wednesday 11-06-2025
The Saudi national team is set to arrive in San Diego, USA tomorrow, after a long journey, in preparation for the Gold Cup organized by CONCACAF, hosted by the United States and Canada.

The envoy of Al Arabiya channel, Naif Al Thaqeel, clarified that the Green's delegation will undergo a recovery training program upon arrival at their accommodation to mitigate the physical fatigue resulting from the long flight.

Al Thaqeel pointed out that the Saudi team will not have a permanent base during its participation in the tournament, unlike Al Hilal club, which will settle in the US capital, Washington, during the FIFA Club World Cup competitions.

These logistical arrangements reflect a flexible approach aimed at adapting to the tournament's match schedule and alleviating the pressures resulting from travel between host cities, providing the coaching staff with the opportunity for flexible planning.

Participating in the CONCACAF tournament represents an important experience for the Green, as it involves exposure to diverse football schools, alongside enhancing the physical and technical readiness of the players ahead of upcoming international commitments.

As part of the preparations, French coach Hervé Renard announced a list of 25 players to represent the Saudi national team in the tournament, with a notable absence of Al Hilal stars due to their commitment to the Club World Cup.

The lineup also saw the exclusion of Hamid Youssef and Jihad Dhakri due to injury, which forced Renard to make emergency changes while maintaining the core group that participated in the last qualifying matches.

The Saudi national team aspires to make a strong presence in the tournament by delivering a commendable performance that reflects the development of Saudi football and enhances the players' experiences on the continental and international levels.
