UEFA Decides to Fine Barcelona for Financial Fair Play Violations
Wednesday 11-06-2025
The European Football Association has decided to impose a financial fine on the Spanish club Barcelona for violating the financial fair play rules for the second consecutive season.

According to the British newspaper "The Times", UEFA considered imposing additional penalties, such as reducing the number of Barcelona players in the upcoming Champions League or deducting points from their total, before settling on a financial fine.

The radio station "Catalonia Radio" clarified that the penalty relates to violations concerning the club's income registration, which contradicts UEFA regulations, as it does not recognize revenues generated from financial leverage as operational income, unlike what the Spanish league considers.

The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" noted that the fine could reach up to 60 million euros, with the possibility of reducing it to 15 million due to ongoing negotiations between Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta, and UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin.
