Al-Dosari Tops Negative List with Saudi National Team
Salem Al-Dosari, the star of the Saudi national team, has recorded a new negative statistic, becoming the player who has missed the most penalty kicks in the history of the Green Team, having missed six out of 11 attempts.
During the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Al-Dosari missed three penalty kicks, against Indonesia, Bahrain, and Australia, which directly affected the results of the Green Team.
The issue was not limited to the qualifiers, as Al-Dosari had previously missed penalties in friendly matches against Bolivia and Jamaica, in addition to a crucial penalty against Poland in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Media figure Khaled Al-Shaneef harshly criticized the team captain, urging him not to step up to take any penalties again, emphasizing that repeated misses are unforgivable at this level of competition.
Despite acknowledging Al-Dosari's talent as a player, Al-Shaneef questioned whether he has the necessary skill to execute penalty kicks, asserting that there are others more deserving of bearing this critical responsibility on the field.
