The star of the Portuguese national team, Cristiano Ronaldo, appeared in press statements after winning the UEFA Nations League title against Spain in a penalty shootout, following a 2-2 draw.
Ronaldo said in his remarks: "Of course, I feel very happy. We had great aspirations represented by winning such a title. This generation deserves this title; this title is for my family and children, for the fans and the families of the players."
He added: "I have won many championships with clubs and received many individual awards, but winning with Portugal is unmatched by anything."
He continued: "Playing with the national team and representing the country is a great honor, and being the captain of this generation is an indescribable pride. This title means a lot to me."
He added: "I was suffering from a minor injury, which worsened during the match, but I did everything I could to help the team."
He concluded regarding his future: "Now is the time to rest from this injury and celebrate the title; I will think about my future at another time. I am really happy."
