Ali Al-Hamadi Leaves National Team Camp After Confirming Absence from Jordan Match
Sunday 08-06-2025
Ali Al-Hamadi, the striker of the Iraqi national team, left the Black Lions' camp on Friday after confirming his absence from the upcoming match against Jordan, in the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Al-Hamadi's departure came after the events of the match between Iraq and South Korea, which the Black Lions lost 0-2 at the Basra International Stadium, in the ninth round of the qualifiers.

Al-Hamadi received a direct red card in the 26th minute after a strong tackle on a South Korean player, forcing Iraq to play with a man down for most of the match, which significantly affected the course of the game. This red card is the first the player has received in the qualifiers.

Following the match, the media coordinator for the team, Salam Al-Mansour, announced that Ali Al-Hamadi officially left the camp and will not be present for the match against Jordan, after the suspension penalty was confirmed, and he was excluded from coach Graham Arnold's plans.

With Iraq's loss to South Korea, the hopes of the Black Lions for direct qualification to the World Cup have faded, and the team will have to compete in the Asian playoff in search of a second chance to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada, and Mexico.
