The English club Chelsea has announced, via its official website, its signing of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, with a contract extending until the summer of 2031.

Delap, who is 22 years old, is considered one of the most promising talents in English football, having excelled last season by scoring 12 goals in the Premier League while wearing the Ipswich shirt, which placed him among the candidates for the Premier League's Young Player of the Year award.

Delap commented on his joining the Blues, saying: "I fully understand the magnitude of Chelsea Football Club, and I can see the path the team is taking under the guidance of the coach and current players. It is the perfect place for my development, and I hope to achieve great things here and contribute to winning more titles."

Delap began his career in the Derby County academy before moving to Manchester City in 2019, where he played under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, Chelsea's current coach, when he was in the club's development team.

Delap's career has seen several stages, most notably playing with Stoke City, Preston, and Hull City, before joining Ipswich Town, where he delivered an impressive performance that led him to move to Stamford Bridge.
