Officially: Middlesbrough Club Announces the Dismissal of Michael Carrick
Middlesbrough Football Club has officially announced the dismissal of its coach Michael Carrick from his position as the team's manager, after failing to lead the team to the Premier League in three consecutive attempts.
Carrick, a former Manchester United star, took over the management of Middlesbrough in October 2022, succeeding Chris Wilder, and had a promising start by leading the team to fourth place in his first full season.
However, performance declined significantly in the following two seasons, leading the team to fall out of contention for promotion and being eliminated from the promotion race at the end of each season.
The decision to dismiss came after a meeting between Carrick and club chairman Steve Gibson, despite two years remaining on the contract of the 43-year-old coach.
