Barcelona has finalized the deal to sign Juan Garcia, goalkeeper of Espanyol, according to reports confirming the completion of the transfer during the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona was looking for a new goalkeeper, amid previous reports linking them to the signing of Garcia, who has also attracted the interest of several European clubs.

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Barcelona decided to activate the release clause in the goalkeeper's contract, amounting to 25 million euros, to avoid entering into direct negotiations with Espanyol due to the strained relations between the two clubs for years.

The source added that Garcia agreed to move to Barcelona after meeting with his family.

The report confirmed that Barcelona has sufficient liquidity to complete the deal, despite the financial crisis the club is currently facing.

Juan Garcia is 24 years old and is considered one of the most prominent emerging goalkeepers in La Liga, which raises doubts about the future of the German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who is 33 years old, within the Catalan team.
