Ahmed Diab, the president of the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, announced the modification of the start date for the Egyptian Premier League season 2025/2026, now set to begin on August 8 instead of the previously scheduled date of August 15.

This announcement came just hours after the official statement from the Football Association, which earlier confirmed that the new season would start in mid-August, in coordination with the association.

Diab explained via his official account on Facebook that the change in schedule aims to give clubs the opportunity to play 4 or 5 rounds before the Egyptian national team's camp, which helps in optimally preparing the players physically and technically.

The Egyptian national team will face two crucial matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September, meeting their Ethiopian counterpart at home, then visiting Burkina Faso in the seventh and eighth rounds of the qualifiers.

The new football season is scheduled to conclude in May 2026, according to the official statement from the Football Association.

It is worth mentioning that Al Ahly club won the Egyptian league title for the 2024/2025 season after a strong battle with Pyramids until the final rounds.
