Chelsea is considering moving to sign English defender Jarrod Branthwaite, an Everton player, during the upcoming summer transfer window, as part of its efforts to strengthen the defense in preparation for the new season.

According to the "Daily Mail", Chelsea has included Branthwaite in its list of interests, but Everton's manager, David Moyes, is hesitant to part with the player, especially after the injury to James Tarkowski and his undergoing surgery on his hamstring, which has caused a defensive crisis for the team in the recent part of the season.

Manchester United had previously made a £50 million offer to sign Branthwaite last summer.

Branthwaite is considering a new experience this summer, hoping to return to the England national team, as he needs to play at a higher level. The player is contracted with Everton until 2027, with an option to extend for an additional season, and he participated in 32 matches with the team during the past season.
