The Expected Joining of Montazer Majed and Marco Faraj to the Iraqi National Team
Saturday 31-05-2025
The duo of Iraqi professionals in European leagues, Montazer Majed and Marco Faraj, are preparing to join the national team in the Basra camp, in preparation for the crucial matches against South Korea and Jordan in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The players will join as soon as they finish their commitments in their local leagues, with Montazer Majed, who plays for Hammarby IF in Sweden, playing his last match in the Swedish league this evening before heading directly to Iraq to join the training camp.

As for Marco Faraj, who plays in the Norwegian league, he too is playing his last match with his club today, after which he will depart for Basra, where he is expected to arrive at the gathering in the coming hours.

The participation of the players comes at an opportune time, especially since the coaching staff led by Graham Arnold relies on fresh blood and diverse options in both defensive and offensive aspects, as part of the preparation plan for the match against South Korea on June 5 at the Basra International Stadium, followed by the match against Jordan on the 10th of the same month in the capital, Amman.
