Spanish media reports have revealed that FC Barcelona prefers to sign Luis Diaz, the Liverpool winger, over Nico Williams, the Athletic Bilbao star, to strengthen the left-wing position during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" mentioned that Barcelona considers Luis Diaz, who is 28 years old, as their first choice for this position and is one of the club's main targets in the upcoming transfer market, despite not having started official negotiations with Liverpool yet.

The Catalan club is confident in the Colombian player's desire to wear the Barcelona jersey and join coach Hans Flick's project, especially given Liverpool's need to finance their transfers, primarily to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

In contrast, Nico Williams has fallen out of Barcelona's plans this summer, after being a primary target last season, following his impressive performance in Euro 2024 and his contribution to Spain's title win.

Barcelona's distancing from the Williams deal is due to the player's decision to remain with Athletic Bilbao to compete in the UEFA Europa League, which has displeased the Catalan club's management.

Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, prefers to sign Luis Diaz, whom he has admired for some time, as the most suitable reinforcement for the attacking front next season.
