Italian media reports have revealed that Napoli has reached a verbal agreement with Canadian striker Jonathan David, the star of French club Lille, in preparation for signing him during the summer transfer window.

According to the website "Football Italia", Giovanni Manà, the sporting director of Napoli, has obtained the approval of the 25-year-old player, making David the club's second signing this summer after the impending signing of Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer following the end of his contract with Manchester City.

The source clarified that Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is looking to build a strong team under the management of coach Antonio Conte.

Jonathan David's name has been linked with several major European clubs, most notably Juventus, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Barcelona.
