Saturday 24-05-2025
The official website of the Premier League announced the victory of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Liverpool player, of the Premier League Player of the Year award for the 2024/2025 season, following his significant contribution to his team's 20th title in history, and the second during his time with the Reds.

Salah is the fifth player in the history of the Premier League to win the award on more than one occasion, having previously won it in the 2017/2018 season, joining a list that includes Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidić, and Kevin De Bruyne.

Salah's award was determined by combining public voting with the opinions of a panel of football experts, surpassing a shortlist of 8 players, including his Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, along with Morgan Gibbs-White, Alexander Isak, Bryan Mbeumo, Declan Rice, and Chris Wood.

Thus, Salah ended the dominance of Manchester City players on the award, which lasted for five consecutive seasons.

The Egyptian star had an amazing season, scoring 28 goals, leading the scorer list by five goals ahead of his closest competitor, in addition to 18 assists, outpacing the nearest player by six assists. He also set a record for the most goal contributions in a season of 38 matches with 46 contributions, just one goal shy of the record set in a season of 42 matches by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole (47).

At the age of 32, Salah continued to break records, rising to third place on Liverpool's all-time top scorers list with 244 goals, moving from 11th to 5th place on the all-time Premier League top scorers list with 185 goals, behind Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney, and Andrew Cole.

Salah also became the highest-scoring foreign player in Premier League history, surpassing Sergio Agüero's 184 goals, and now ranks fourth in the list of most goal contributions (scoring and assisting) in the league's history.

With his new contract signed with Liverpool, Salah aims to become the first player in Premier League history to win the Player of the Season award three times.
