Tuchel Praises What Toney Has Achieved with Al Ahli This Season
The German Thomas Tuchel, coach of the England national team, revealed the reason for calling up Ivan Toney, the Al Ahli Jeddah striker, to the "Three Lions" squad that will participate in two international matches in June.
Tuchel decided to call up Ivan Toney to the England national team for the first time since his transfer to Al Ahli Jeddah from Brentford in the summer of 2024.
The England national team will play a match against Andorra in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on June 7, followed by a friendly match against Senegal on the 10th of the same month.
Tuchel stated in his remarks: "He has made significant scoring contributions and won the AFC Champions League title with Al Ahli."
He continued: "I haven't been able to visit him in Saudi Arabia to watch him, but I am closely monitoring him, and he deserves the opportunity after scoring more than 20 goals with his team."
