The regional court in Valladolid issued the first ruling of its kind in Spain condemning racial insults, in a case concerning Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, a player for Real Madrid.

This ruling came in response to the racial insults directed at Vinicius during Real Madrid's match against Valladolid.

The Spanish league association filed an official complaint, resulting in one-year prison sentences for five fans, along with fines ranging from 1080 to 1620 euros.

The court also ruled to ban the convicted individuals from working in sports, educational, or entertainment fields for four years, a step that La Liga described as a historic victory in the fight against racism in stadiums.

Vinicius Junior is considered one of the players most subjected to racial insults in football, not only in Spain but worldwide.
