Several media reports have confirmed that Real Madrid has reached a verbal agreement with Benfica's left-back Álvaro Carerras regarding his personal terms.
The Spanish newspaper 'AS' reported that Real Madrid has agreed with Carerras on a 6-year contract, with a salary ranging between 8-9 million euros annually.
The newspaper added that Real Madrid is working on reaching an agreement with Benfica on the transfer fee, noting that the Portuguese club is asking for 50 million euros to part with him (the release clause amount).
The newspaper concluded that the royal club is negotiating with Benfica to reduce this amount, while the royal club is confident of signing the player before the Club World Cup.
