Real Madrid continues to work on acquiring the left-back of the Portuguese team Benfica, Álvaro Carerras, in order to strengthen the team's squad in the upcoming transfer market.

Manchester United holds a buy-back option in the young player's contract for about 18 million euros.

The Spanish newspaper "AS" reported that Real Madrid plans to agree with Manchester United to buy back Carerras from Benfica, and then resell him to them for an amount ranging between 30-35 million euros.

The newspaper added that the young player has a release clause in his contract with Benfica between 50-60 million euros, while the royal club prefers not to pay this hefty amount to sign him.

The newspaper concluded that Manchester United may buy back Carerras and then sell him to Real Madrid, which will help them comply with profit and sustainability rules, as the profits will be recorded directly as a sale of one of the academy players.
