Diyala Club Issues a Statement Clarifying What Happened in the Police Match
Diyala Sports Club issued an angry statement through its official pages following the harsh loss to Police Club, which ended with a last-minute killer goal, in a match that sparked a lot of controversy, especially regarding the refereeing.
The club stated in its statement, which carried a tone of strong protest:
"The match ended with a result that was unexpected, amidst a refereeing performance unworthy even of neighborhood leagues. What happened on the field cannot be explained by the logic of fair competition, but rather exceeded all football norms that believe in equity and justice."
The statement pointed out that the refereeing crew lost control of the atmosphere of the match, leading to strange decisions that directly affected the team, as stated in the statement:
"Red cards were distributed as if they were invitations to a party whose organizer we do not know, decisions that made the match run with a capricious spirit rather than professionalism. We no longer know what is acceptable and what is unacceptable on our fields, while those concerned watch without intervention."
Diyala Club criticized the absence of VAR technology in the match, indicating that its absence constituted a real blow to justice within the green rectangle, and the club wrote in a painful tone:
"The absence of VAR made matters worse, as it chose to retreat from the scene, especially in cases related to our club. As if justice decided to be absent as well. We left the match not knowing who truly lost: us or football itself?"
The statement concluded with a veiled message to the Football Federation and the organizing bodies, calling for review and accountability, and urging not to leave small clubs prey to silent injustice:
"We know our voice is not heard like that of the big clubs, but we have honor, and we play for the city and its fans. We await a serious stance from those concerned, as silence in the face of error turns it into a norm. And Diyala will remain, despite everything, a platform for sporting dignity."
