Announcement of the Egyptian League Format for 2025-2026
Taher Ezzat, the Director of Competitions at the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, revealed that the league for the upcoming season 2025-2026 will be held with the participation of 21 teams, following the decision to cancel relegation in the current season, which was approved during the clubs' meeting today, Sunday.
Taher Ezzat announced during his statements that the decision came after an agreement among the clubs, as part of a phased plan aimed at maintaining technical and competitive balance.
Taher Ezzat pointed out during his talk that the association is committed to restoring the usual relegation and promotion system within just three years.
He said: "Starting from the next season, 4 clubs will be relegated from the Premier League while 3 teams will be promoted from the second division, and the current league system (home and away) will continue until the end of the transitional phase."
He confirmed: "This amendment is part of a comprehensive plan to develop the Egyptian league system, in light of the challenges posed by the congestion of the competition schedule and the multiple local and international commitments, ensuring a more stable technical and administrative environment for the clubs in the upcoming period."
