Saturday 17-05-2025
The coach Xabi Alonso is just one step away from taking over as the manager of Real Madrid, succeeding Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, who will leave to coach the Brazilian national team.

Alonso's chapter with Bayer Leverkusen ended today, Saturday, after the German team played its last match of the season in the Bundesliga (2-2) against Mainz 05.

Leverkusen had previously announced Alonso's departure from the team at the end of the Bundesliga, while the Royal Club has yet to announce its contract with the young Spanish coach.

It is expected that the Royal Club will announce its contract with Alonso for a duration of 3 years, following the end of the Spanish league on May 25.

Alonso is set to take charge of Real Madrid during the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place this summer in the United States, from June 14 to July 13.

It is worth noting that Real Madrid is actively preparing for the Club World Cup, having announced the signing of defender Dean Hausen, working on the announcement of Trent Alexander-Arnold, and is close to signing Benfica left-back Alvaro Careras.
