New Escalation in Al-Nasr and Al-Wehda Crisis After Appeal Acceptance and Referral Back to Disciplinary Committee
In a surprising move, the Appeals Committee of the Saudi Football Federation has reconsidered Al-Wehda's protest against Al-Nasr and decided to refer the case back to the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.
The protest submitted by Al-Wehda was due to the delay of Al-Nasr's team bus in arriving at King Abdulaziz Stadium in Al-Sharae, on February 25, which led to a delay in the start of the match.
The Disciplinary Committee had initially rejected this protest with a decision issued on March 4, but the Appeals Committee later annulled that decision and returned the file to the relevant committee for review.
On April 28, the Disciplinary Committee reaffirmed its rejection of the protest, confirming that the reasons provided did not warrant a change in the previous ruling, while granting the right to appeal under Article 144.
Recently, the Appeals Committee announced its acceptance of Al-Wehda's appeal and decided to refund the paid appeal fees, basing its decision on Articles 144, 145, 146, and 148 of the Disciplinary Regulations.
