Police Fans Denounce the Appointment of the Referee Crew for the Al-Zawraa vs. Zakho Match
The Central Police Fans Association expressed its astonishment and strong anger at the continuation of "violations" occurring in some matches of the Iraqi Stars League, especially in the encounters involving Al-Police Club or Al-Zawraa Club.
In an official statement, the association confirmed that what is happening is a direct assault on the integrity of the league, calling on the Iraqi Football Association and the Iraqi National Olympic Committee to take urgent action to prevent local referees from officiating matches involving Al-Police and Al-Zawraa, and to bring in foreign referees to ensure complete neutrality.
The police fans directed sharp criticisms at the head of the Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muftin, accusing him of clear bias towards Al-Zawraa and interfering in the affairs of the Referees Committee, which they described as a "serious violation" that threatens the credibility of the competition.
The public outrage increased after the announcement of the referee crew that will lead the match between Al-Zawraa and Zakho tomorrow, consisting of:
Mohannad Qasim as the main referee, Wathiq Madloul as the first assistant, Ahmad Sabah as the second assistant, Muhammad Sadiq as the fourth official, and Muhammad Tarek as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The fans demanded an official investigation by the regulatory and judicial authorities, asserting that the repetition of such scenes puts Iraqi football in real danger and undermines justice on the field.
