Abdulghani Shahid: My mission with Zakho begins with a tough challenge against Al-Zawraa and we will work to restore balance
The new coach of Zakho Club, Abdulghani Shahid, confirmed that his mission with the team will start with a heavy confrontation against Al-Zawraa in the upcoming round of the Iraqi Stars League, pointing out that the time is short but he trusts the players and their ability to deliver a strong match that shows the team's character.
He said: "I fully understand the size of the challenge that awaits me at the beginning of my journey with Zakho, as the first confrontation will be against a big team like Al-Zawraa, but such matches create spirit and reveal the true nature of the players."
He explained: "The team has gone through a phase of decline in results, and we need to restore balance as quickly as possible. I trust the players' abilities, and we will work on improving some technical and tactical aspects, especially in the defense and midfield lines."
He continued: "Al-Zawraa is an organized team with multiple offensive solutions, and we must be cautious and disciplined in our movements on the field, but at the same time, we will not enter the match just to defend; we aim to show the true character of Zakho."
He added: "Despite the short time, I met with the players and found a great desire for change and to regain positive results, which makes me optimistic despite the difficult start."
He concluded: "The Zakho fans deserve a lot, and we will work hard to translate their aspirations into reality, and the beginning will be with a strong match against Al-Zawraa where we show spirit and fight until the last minute."
