Sources confirmed that Al Ahly club has decided to part ways with its Swiss coach Marcel Koller and his entire coaching staff following their exit from the African Champions League at the hands of Sundowns in the semi-finals.

Al Ahly failed to reach the African Champions League final after a devastating 1-1 draw with Sundowns in the return leg, following a goalless draw in the first leg last Saturday.

According to reports, Al Ahly will announce its new coach within 48 hours, and sources indicated that Portuguese Carlos Queiroz is the closest name to succeed Koller.

Al Ahly's management is seeking to reach an agreement to terminate Koller’s contract and part ways with the entire coaching staff while retaining Mohamed Shawky as the interim sports director for player affairs, and reinstating Sayed Abdel-Hafiz as the director of football.

In recent hours, Egyptian media has circulated several names as potential successors to Koller at Al Ahly, including Portuguese Jose Gomes, the current coach of Al-Fateh, German coach Marco Rose, in addition to Carlos Queiroz.

It is expected that Al Ahly will announce its separation from Swiss coach Koller shortly after the shocking African exit.
