Abdul Hafeez: Al Ahly's Interest Requires Koller to Leave

Sayed Abdul Hafeez, the former football director at Al Ahly Club, spoke about his possible return to his position in the current period after the dismissal of the team's coaching staff led by Swiss Marcel Koller following their exit from the African Champions League.

Al Ahly bid farewell to the African Champions League from the semi-finals after a dramatic 1-1 draw with South Africa's Sundowns in Cairo last Friday, following a goalless draw in the first leg in Pretoria the previous Saturday.

Reports have emerged stating that Al Ahly will dismiss the entire coaching staff while retaining Mohamed Shawky, the deputy sports director for player affairs, temporarily, and bringing back Sayed Abdul Hafeez to the position of football director.

In this regard, Abdul Hafeez said in an interview on MBC Masr 2: "Any Ahly fan cannot delay in serving the club, but I cannot comment, and there are other people in current positions."

He continued: "I have spent 36 years at Al Ahly and learned a lot on both a personal and sports level, and I have specific commitments, and I cannot talk about the matter at this time. The club's sons never hesitate when asked to serve."

He pointed out that the interest of Al Ahly requires Koller to leave his position, especially after the team has repeatedly conceded many goals, particularly in the dying moments of matches.
