Terim Criticizes the Performance of the Match Referee for Al-Hilal

Tuesday 22-04-2025
Turkish coach Fatih Terim criticized the referee's performance in the match of his team against Al-Hilal.

The match between Al-Hilal and Al-Shabab, which took place as part of the 29th round of the Saudi Professional League, ended in a positive draw of 2-2.

The Turkish coach made clear criticisms of referee Rad O'Brienovich, who officiated the match, pointing out that the first goal for Al-Hilal came after a wrong decision to award a goal kick in favor of "the leader", despite it being a corner kick in favor of Al-Shabab.

He added in the press conference: "I am sad for losing two points. Al-Hilal is a strong team, they are the defending champions and a strong candidate to win it again, in addition to being a contender for the Asian elite title, but we did not retreat, we played as a complete system."

He continued: "Al-Shabab plays enjoyable football, and we approach our matches with the idea of possession. Throughout my career, which spans 33 years, my teams have always played in an attacking style, because the best way to defend is to attack."

Terim concluded: "We did not give Al-Hilal any real chances in the first half, and on the other hand, we missed three or four clear chances."
