Sunday 20-04-2025
Ahmed Shobair commented on the goal that Pyramids scored against Orlando Pirates yesterday, Saturday, which was disallowed.

The first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final match between Pyramids and Orlando Pirates ended in a goalless draw 0-0.

Shobair said on the program 'With Shobair' on 'On Sport FM': 'Pyramids scored two goals against Orlando, the second goal was a handball, there's no debate about that, but the first goal is the one that has controversy. I spoke yesterday with our referee colleagues and they all told me that the goal is not valid because the defender did not intend it, and they told me that the law has an amendment, although I was convinced it was a valid goal.'

He continued: 'This is what some referees said, and they also mentioned that the referee should not have gone to VAR, and when the referee went, he was convinced by VAR's opinion and disallowed the goal.'

Shobair added: 'Pyramids was close and scored and missed several opportunities, and Orlando also caused some troubles for Pyramids, but my feeling is that Pyramids will settle the match here, but in the end, it is a difficult match and a very tough match as well.'
