De Bruyne Expresses Shock: I Haven't Received an Offer to Renew My Contract with Manchester City
The Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne, midfielder for Manchester City, expressed his great astonishment after the club's management decided not to renew his contract, which ends at the end of the current season.
In his statements, De Bruyne clarified that the decision to leave was not his own, but came from the club, confirming that he had not received any official offer to renew his contract, which is set to last until the summer of 2025.
De Bruyne said: "It was a small shock for me, as I did not receive any offer to renew the contract throughout the year. The club held a short meeting with me and informed me of the decision. I was somewhat surprised, but I understand that clubs have to make their own decisions."
He added: "I still feel that I am capable of delivering outstanding performance at this level, as I have proven in recent matches. Nevertheless, I respect the management's decision and accept it."
