Barcelona Supports Flick with Official Statement

Saturday 19-04-2025
The Spanish club Barcelona announced in an official statement its support for coach Hans Flick's comments criticizing the La Liga match calendar and its failure to consider the team's participation in the Champions League.

The match between Barcelona and Valladolid has been rescheduled to take place on Saturday, May 3, instead of Sunday, knowing that the team will play against Inter on Tuesday, May 6, in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.

Barcelona requested that the Valladolid match be held at 6:30 PM, but La Liga rejected this, and it is scheduled for 9:00 PM, leaving the team with only 72 hours to prepare for the Inter match.

The club stated: "The club has expressed its dissatisfaction on several occasions this season regarding the standards set by the Spanish Professional Football League and the Spanish Football Federation concerning the scheduling of first-team matches."

It added: "We believe, as our coach Hans Flick publicly stated yesterday, whom we fully support and completely agree with his statements, that the relevant bodies in Spanish football should be more considerate of clubs participating in all official competitions during the final stages of the season like our club."

It continued: "This is an old issue, and while we do not doubt the difficulty of organizing a busy match schedule, Barcelona will continue to defend its interests before local and international football bodies to ensure that the sports schedule is more balanced and reasonable."

It concluded: "In this context, Barcelona will file an official complaint to the football governing bodies to avoid the repetition of such situations that harm the most important elements of the game, which are the players."
