Blanc: We Did Not Deserve to Win and Al-Fateh Played a Great Match
Laurent Blanc, the coach of Al-Ittihad, admitted the poor level of his team against Al-Fateh in the match held on Thursday evening in the 28th round of the Saudi league.
Al-Fateh won against Al-Ittihad in the match with two clean goals.
Blanc said in the press conference after the match: "We did not perform well on both individual and collective levels, and I think we did not deserve to win. The opponent played a great match, and I congratulate the coach for achieving the victory."
He added: "I respect all opponents, and I started with a formation that should have been good, but it did not yield results. Al-Fateh was good in defense and in transitioning to counter-attacks."
He continued: "We did not deserve to win, but at the same time, we are suffering from several injuries that affected us, and I do not want to make excuses, nor do I want to talk about this matter extensively."
Blanc confirmed: "The individual aspect has always made the difference for Al-Ittihad. We missed this aspect in today's match, and when you lose individual performances, the collective performance is also affected."
He concluded: "The Al-Fateh goalkeeper had an amazing match, and we need to forget what happened in tonight's match and focus on the upcoming match at home."
