Inzaghi: We Must Forget the First Leg Result and Repeat Our Performance

Simone Inzaghi, the head coach of Inter Milan, stressed the need to approach the second leg against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with complete focus, emphasizing the importance of forgetting the first leg result despite the advantage gained by the Italian team.

Inter Milan will host Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, following their 2-1 victory in the first leg at the Allianz Arena.

Inzaghi stated: "We must forget the first leg result, but not the performance. We played a fantastic match in Munich, and now we need to replicate that with the same mentality and attacking intensity."

He added: "We are facing a team with high quality and great experience; we will need a perfect performance, especially in transitions and recoveries, and we must be bold when coming out of pressure."

Regarding the pressure from a congested fixture schedule, Inzaghi acknowledged the impact of fatigue, explaining: "Playing every three or four days wears the players out, especially with the new Champions League format, but it's a price we happily pay because we are on the right track."

On the threat posed by Bayern Munich players, he said: "We know well the capabilities of Müller, who has already scored against us, and Bayern has big names like Sané, Coman, and Gnabry, all of whom are capable of making a difference."

Inzaghi confirmed that the team has practiced penalty kicks in anticipation of any scenario, emphasizing the importance of the roles that substitutes can play in such crucial matches.

He concluded his statements by saying: "We delivered a commendable performance in the first leg, but the job is not finished yet; there is no room for overconfidence. We need another 90 minutes of hard work and focus."
