Neuer's Absence Against Inter Milan in the Champions League

Monday 14-04-2025
Bayern Munich has suffered another blow ahead of their clash with Inter Milan in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, as the veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's absence from the much-anticipated match has been confirmed.

Neuer, who is 39 years old, has been sidelined since the beginning of March due to a muscle fiber tear in his right calf, which he sustained while celebrating Jamal Musiala's goal against Bayer Leverkusen. Despite the German goalkeeper's efforts in rehabilitation training, his condition has not improved sufficiently for him to participate in Wednesday's match against Inter.

Sky Sports and the German newspaper Bild confirmed that Neuer will miss the game, opening the door for young goalkeeper Jonas Oerbig, who is 21 years old, to make his ninth appearance this season for Bayern Munich.

According to reports from Sky Germany, Neuer's expected return will be on April 26 against Mainz in the Bundesliga, meaning he will also miss the team's upcoming match against Heidenheim in the Bundesliga.
