Shobeir: This Season Could Be the Worst in Al-Ahly's History
Media figure Ahmed Shobeir confirmed that the current season could be the worst in Al-Ahly's history.
Shobeir commented on the possibility of replaying the Al-Ahly vs. Zamalek match after Al-Ahly withdrew from the encounter due to it being assigned to an Egyptian refereeing crew.
He said: "The only goal for Al-Ahly right now is to avoid losing 3 points by the end of the season and to keep things as they are, but the story of replaying the summit match against Zamalek and everything being said about this matter reminds me of what happened during the Egypt vs. Senegal match."
He continued: "The situation has become difficult for Al-Ahly locally, and this could be the worst local season in Al-Ahly's history because they are almost out of it, facing a zero-season. The story of withdrawing against Zamalek cost them 3 points, even though I believed Al-Ahly was much closer to winning the match, but that was the board's decision."
