English media reports have indicated that Newcastle United has placed Wolverhampton's Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha at the top of its summer priorities, in an effort to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season.

The 'Daily Mail' reported that Newcastle's coaching staff is impressed by Cunha's versatile abilities, as he can play as a winger, playmaker, or attacking midfielder, in addition to his consistent goal-scoring capability.

However, the club will face strong competition from other teams for the player's signature, as his contract with Wolverhampton includes a release clause estimated at around £62.5 million.

Reports suggest that Newcastle needs to qualify for the Champions League to increase its chances of securing the deal, as the possibility of Cunha joining his fellow Brazilians Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton could be a motivating factor for him.
